What Happens After I Submit a Pitch?

NEGFA’s Suggestion Box, opens Nov. 1 – March 1. This is your opportunity to pitch session ideas and presenters for Summer & Winter Convention.

Step 1: Read Every Idea and Nominate The Best (March)

Ideas come to us from staff, Board Members, and the Suggestion Box. The Board and Staff review every idea. We look for the best and most innovative ideas and presenters to help move the grain and feed industry forward. The team reviews the proposals based on specific criteria that add up to an exciting program! We usually leave a little space for a timely topic or speaker depending on what is happening in our industry and world close to convention time.

Step 2: Create A Draft Program (April)

One the Team completes its review, NEGFA staff go through the list of recommended sessions and speakers and begins arranging them in a program outline that will work with our contracted event space and dates. We will begin contacting speakers and checking their availability and working with them to develop their session descriptions. By the end of April, the conference schedule is 80 percent complete. We’ll leave a few slots for breaking news, emerging issues, and any gaps identified by staff or the Program Chairs.

Step 3: Confirm Speakers and Post Initial Conference Schedule (May)

We confirm speaker availability and post as much scheduling information as we can to the conference website before the early bird registration pricing ends. A few more sessions may still be added before the schedule is finalized, but we are no longer looking for submissions on speakers or topics. We do add sessions around breaking topical news as deemed critical by NEGFA Board of Directors.

Step 4: Final Conference Schedule (July)

The final schedule is available by July. We may still have a surprise or two, be that confirming a great keynote speaker or an urgent breaking news issue.  At this time, we’re more or less finished, and looking forward to conversations with all of you at Convention!
