Grain Engulfment & Bin Entry Training

Instructed by the Safety & Technical Rescue Association (SATRA), this one-day hands-on workshop will provide attendees an opportunity to actively participate in live engulfment exercises.  The engulfment training places a strong emphasis on entrapment prevention and safe work practices. There are no prerequisites to participate. This training will meet the OSHA training requirements for OSHA 1910.272 (Grain Handling Standard), qualifying them to work around flowing grain.

FSMA Preventable Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Training

NeGFA will be offering a Food Safety Preventive Control Alliance Preventive Controls for Animal Food training. Attendees will receive a FSPCA PCQI certificate after completion of the course. The training was developed by the FSPCA and is the “standardized curriculum” the Food and Drug Administration recognizes as adequate for PCQI training. Successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for a PCQI. Must have 20 participants. Please let the association know if you are interested in attending.

A one-day seminar focused on OSHA regulations impacting the grain elevator and feed mill industry. Our partners from the National Grain and Feed Association will talk about what's happening at the federal level in DC regarding OSHA and the Food and Drug Administration. Sessions will also cover defining confined spaces, creating a mindset of "entry as the last resort," safe practices of confined space entry, what the walking and working surfaces final rule means for your facility, how to deal with non-compliant behavior, and an update from the area OSHA office on local issues.

Grain Grading Seminar - Sidney, NE

This one-day hands-on workshop will feature the latest information on grain quality. The grain grading seminar will address and display many different grain samples for corn and wheat. Presentation on the grading and appeal process will be given. Participants will learn the Official U.S. Grades and how to obtain a representative sample. Attendees will also learn how to recognize grain damage factors. The workshop will be under the direction of the Kansas Grain Inspection Service with inspectors Tom Meyer and Jon Newcomer. Each class will be limited to the first registered 35 participants.

Participants are encouraged to bring a notebook. Cost is $100 for Members of the association and $145 for NonMembers of the Association. The cost covers materials, meals and breaks. Interaction is encouraged between participants and instructors regarding specific challenges they are encountering.
