Registration is now open for the NGFA-KSU FSMA training course scheduled for Feb. 18-20, 2020 in Manhattan, Kansas. This course is targeted for businesses that need to comply with FDA’s rule for Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Food for Animals.
The FDA FSMA-related animal food rule requires that certain activities specified within the regulations be completed by a “preventive controls qualified individual” or PCQI. Such activities include overseeing or performing: 1) preparation of the required food safety plan; 2) validation of the preventive controls; 3) records review; 4) reanalysis of the food safety plan; and 5) other activities as appropriate to the food.
As defined by the animal food rule, a preventive controls qualified individual “means a qualified individual who has successfully completed training in the development and application of risk-based preventive controls at least equivalent to that received under a standardized curriculum recognized as adequate by FDA or is otherwise qualified through job experience to develop and apply a food safety system.” The training content for this course, developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA), is the “standardized curriculum” recognized by FDA. Successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for a “preventive controls qualified individual.”
Note that this course offers both FSPCA training and accredited hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) training. Additional course information is available here. The price for the course is $550.
