New NEGFA Board Member: Scott Sorrows, Hansen-Mueller

Scott Sorrows, Director of Safety and Food Safety, with Hansen-Mueller is the Nebraska Grain and Feed Association's newest board member. He joined the board in July, and is excited to help contribute to the Association's policy efforts. Sorrows said, “Whether it's OSHA, USDA, FDA, Nebraska Economic Development, and others, NEGFA is at the heart of it all. I look forward to helping the organization grow and help influence the direction of agriculture in Nebraska.”
Sorrows sees value the tight nit nature of the grain and feed industry that allows professionals to have connections across company lines and work together on regulatory issues. When asked why he chose to run for the NEGFA board, Sorrows stated, “I have a passion for the ag industry in Nebraska and helping others. I hope my experiences in the agriculture industry can bring creative ideas to the NEGFA.”
Agriculture has always been a love of Sorrows. He said he was first inspired to pursue an agriculture field at the age of five when an older gentleman from his church offered him a ride in his combine. From there, he was hooked. In college, Sorrows completed a degree in Agribusiness Economics from Southern Illinois University in 2005 but he has spent most of his career in the area of operations. He has worked for both large corporate agriculture companies as well as privately owned grain and feed companies. Sorrows and his family have lived in Omaha for the past six years. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and woodworking. He regularly donated flowers from his garden to a local Omaha nonprofit, Second Chance Bouquets.
The NEGFA would like to offer a warm welcome to Sorrows so please reach out to him to congratulate him to his appointment. We look forward to having him help to move the industry forward.
