NGF SUPPORTS, ENCOURAGES FUND RAISING EFFORTS FOR HEARTLAND HEROES HONOR FLIGHTS MEMBERS ENCOURAGED TO SUPPORT, MATCH DONATIONS The Nebraska Grain and Feed Association (NGF) would like you or your company to consider making a tax-deductible donation of $250 to the Heartland Heroes Honor (HHF) flight to assist our greatest generation to fly to Washington DC and visit the national World War II Memorial, which was just dedicated in 2004. NGF Directors voted to support the HHF fundraising efforts at the last board meeting, and several indicated that they will contribute to the effort. In 2008, HHF flew over 750 Nebraska veterans on five flights. Over 900 remain on the waiting list. The goal of HHF is to take another 750 veterans on “Operation Honor Flight Airlift” via a 747 on April 23 and 24 in 2009. This is a final opportunity for our very brave and aging veterans from Nebraska to witness for themselves the admiration of a grateful nation. Many of us have aging parents who fought in World War II, but haven't had the chance to visit the national monument. Many aging veterans simply aren’t able or can't afford to make the trip on their own and may never get this opportunity again. Time is running out. Nationally, 1,200 World War II veterans die each day, and it has been estimated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) of Nebraska that 2,000 Nebraska veterans will pass away over the next 12 months. HHF still needs $150,000 to meet their goal for “Operation Heartland Honor Flight Airlift.” Let's not deny this last opportunity to assist HHF in fulfilling their mission to get as many World War II vets to the memorial as possible before it's too late! The Nebraska Grain and Feed Association (NGF) is pledging a donation of $250 to HHF for our greatest generation to visit Washington D.C. Each donation, in turn, will be matched by a Peter Kiewit Foundation match making the initial $250 donation into a $500 match. NGF is challenging each of our member companies as well as their presidents, owners or general managers, including associates and advertisers, to donate at least $250 to the fund for HHF. We are encouraging any member who wishes to contribute to this effort to contribute in the name or names of deceased employees, loved ones or friends who served in World War II, but didn't have the opportunity to make the trip. We will also challenge other Nebraska agribusiness associations to participate in this honorable venture. Tax-deductible contributions can be made to “Heartland Honor Flight”. Please mail your donation to the Nebraska Grain and Feed Association, 1233 Lincoln Mall, Lincoln, Nebraska, 68508. This will allow NGF to tally member’s contributions and challenge other agribusiness organizations to contribute. You and your company will receive a receipt directly from the Omaha Community Foundation for your records. Please, don't miss this opportunity to sacrifice a little for so many who sacrificed so much! Thanks for your generosity.
