NGF LAUNCHES 2008 –2009 MEMBERSHIP DRIVE

This month, the Nebraska Grain and Feed Association (NGF) has kicked-off the 2008 – 2009 membership drive.  What a year this has been!  Record commodity prices, volatile grain futures markets, the expansion of bio fuels production, booming export sales and soaring transportation and energy costs has kept NGF staff busy working with many of you to meet these challenges head on.   There are many reasons to renew your membership and here are just a few.

First, NGF knows that business expenses for our members have risen across the board.  Just like you, your Association has kept cost down.  And, because of those efforts, NGF dues will not increase this year!   Challenges remain, the work continues, and we need your support now more than ever to continue to be an effective advocate for the grain and feed industry.

Second, Association efforts contributed to the recent reduction of the feed inspection fee!  NGF fought for the recent adoption of state Department of Agriculture regulations reducing the per ton feed inspection fee from 10 cents, to 4 cents, per ton.  The proposed reduction will save Nebraska grain elevators, feed mills and ethanol plants that produce feed and distillers grains over $350,000 per year.

Third, NGF efforts impacted the Nebraska Public Service Commission (PSC) decision to increase the Schedule A & E grain storage rates state licensed elevators can charge depositors to 4 cents per month for corn and other grains, and 6 cents per month for soybeans.  These charges will now be more in line with today’s escalating increase in transportation, interest rates, insurance, benefits, labor and repairs.

Once again, NGF Education Coupons will be distributed to all members.   The coupons can be used to send your valued employees to one of our many NGF workshops and seminars.  A professional staff is always available to answer your questions or offer assistance to you on any problem, or for processing forms, contracts and health & safety videos that can assist you in your business operations.  Our  weekly e-mail alert and the monthly newsletter NEBRASKA GRAIN & FEED includes local and state industry news, and the NGF Directory and Buyers Guide, listing ALL grain & feed facilities, dealers, brokers & vendors continues to be a valuable source of information.  Look for your membership renewal in the mail, and thanks for supporting NGF!
